I am planning to upgrade my Visual Source Safe 6.0 to Visual Source Safe 2005. Just want to know what problems I should anticipate in such an upgrade if there is any one out there that has already tried.  I have my current source safe database with all my files and would like to keep all the history and versioning details.

VSS 2005 is backwards compatible.  I upgraded to VSS 2005 and did not experience any problems at all.  That being said, the following is very useful information you may want to check as well:

http://www.hightechtalks.com/visual-studio-net-vss/vss-6-0d-2005-one-334129.html
http://alinconstantin.homeip.net/webdocs/scc/Vss6Vs2005.htm

The steps I recommend are:

1) Back up your VSS db(s) to a safe location, just in case
2) Uninstall VSS 6.0d - this will not remove the db(s)
3) Install VSS 2005 and open your existing db(s)
4) Check version history and that everything looks right.  It should.
