search funtion issue

Hello all,

I have bilbo here in the Baltimore office with a minor problem quickly reaching the boiling point. She cannot use the search function to find items on a network drive in Annapolis. I can log onto her laptop and search the drive just fine, she logs back on and no go. I can’t find any difference with the preferences when this happens. Would anyone have an opinion on this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

does her user account give her the same priviledges as your account?  is she a member of a group which has more restricted access?
an she use ip address to  \\  to browse instead of using  \\fileserver2\   ??   Possibly a wins issue.  Verify that she has the same Wins address as you do, and also verify that she has netbios installed on her PC

Hello all,

Thanks to everyone for the responses. The main problem is resolved. And the winners were Brad and John. I renamed Dianne’s profile on her machine, had her log back on and recreate. This solved the search problem, now comes the task of restoring all of the little user nuances. Favorites, shortcuts, and so forth. But the search is on.

Thanks again

This eems to have done it, but I would have thought there would be a far easier solution. They did try all the above and it did not seem to do it.
