Exchange Backup error: The backup has been stopped because it was halted by the client or the connection with the client failed. --Why did this happen?

Hi.  I noticed this error in the event logs:

Information Store (332) 959785e6-dfc2-4f4c-9768-53cd165e7d1c: The backup has been stopped because it was halted by the client or the connection with the client failed.

I use the standard backup utility on the exchange server, and backup to a tape drive.  What could be causing this?

If you can, try using the NTBackup utility to back-up the IS to local disk.  If you do that, and have success, then you know that there may be an issue with trying to write the data to the drive.  (Make sure you have plenty of space).

Personally, if this is the case, I would run the head cleaning tape through the tape drive and try running the backup with a fresh tape.  This does not guarantee anything, but might help.

On the flipside, if it's a database problem, it may be time to run a check against the database
