It seems to me, you have conflicting addresses for "laptop"
Which one is the right one?
169.254.179.128 or 192.168.0.2
Perhaps give your PC a unique hostname like laptop-xyz
But do not exceed 13 characters, because this is a limitation for the software.
Important: Stick to the system requirements as stated in the installation manual!

the right from the nic is 192.168.0.2 I have configured that in tcp/ip settings. However from somewhere it pulls out 169.254.179.128. How to fix it ?

On another computer it does not have conflicting address but still dosent want to proceed, i think its uppercase/lowercase problem since in win2k everything runs smoothly and i see that hostname there is lowercase.

Thing is ive heard thats possible to install on WINXP and thats what i wanna do.

Any comments is apprechiated.

Thanks!

Ive checked this : http://security.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-r3-basis/179411

installed microsoft loop back, in loopbacksettings tcp/ip ive put 192.168.0.3 as well as in windows/system32/drivers/hosts

192.168.0.3 laptop
saved the file, in temp/msbinst i replaced file from installpatch from kernel cd (for fat32 partitions installation only) and deleted others from tempfile then resumeinst.bat
and everything worked fine.

NOTE: this solution worked for me on windows xp, however i didnt check to install it without modifying original etc/hosts file  wich default looked like 127.0.0.1 localhost and after installing loopback without entering anything in tcp/ip settings to see that it works, but maybe i might for fun.

Thanks guys!
