"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Impossible to say with what little you've told us.

a) The 1GB option would be better is your applications use a lot of memory but don't access that memory heavily.

2) The 512MB (not 512k btw !!!) would be better if your applications don't use so much memory but make frequent accesses to memory.

Sorry 512Mb.

Which category would gaming fall into?

Are you saying you can specify 2 different ram speeds for your board at either 533 mhz or 800 mhz?  Obviously the 800 mhz ram would perform better than the 533 mhz, but as for size the 1 GB would be better for memory intensive applications and games.   Why wouldn't you go with 1GB of the 800 mhz ram?

because im skint!!

Think i'll just get the 512Mg at 800Mhz with a view to upgrade at a later date.

Thanks to you both...
