windows security and directory service for unix

We are trying to use AD for unix, so we can achieve single sign on for users. I have no clue where to start, what is the best approch to do this? can anyone point me to the right directions?

Linux is able to certify the users querying windows AD. With any distro you got a Config Manager. In the Security section you'll find the Authentication Type you want to use (Win Domain in this case). Usually that'all.

I've not used it, so I'm not able to tell you how this works (fine or not), but is just a schema extension and the project seems abandoned, so I do not advice you to use it. The best way ever is to use the methods integrated in the OS (so also well maintained) in a production environment.

On the Microsoft side (I forgot because I prefer Linux ;) ) you can use MIIS: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/interopmigration/linux.mspx
