Laptop undocks without aksing it to

User has a compaq N600, and every once in a while, for no apparent reason, it goes through the undocking procedure all by itself.  User has supposedly not clicked on "undock" in the start menu ( win XP pro ), but all connections are severed ( external keyboard, mouse, NIC ) except video monitor, which still shows the desktop.  Why might this be happening, and also, is there a way to remove this "undock" button ( right next to "log off" and "shut down" ) on the start menu, just in case she's accidentally clicking on it?

in win xp pro you can run "gpedit.msc" and remove the UNDOCK option from the menu by going to:
LOCAL COMPUTER POLICY->USER CONFIGURATION->ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES->REMOVE THE "UNDOCK PC" BUTTON FROM THE START MENU and ENABLE it..

Just a thought.: If the power passes through the dock and the AC adapter is loose at the dock's connection jack it's possible the laptop is seeing a momentary power loss to the dock as the dock being removed.

I'd also look at possible contact problems, but not just the power connector. Also make sure everything sits snuggly, maybe there is some dirt or other object between the laptop and the docking station which prevents a proper connection.
