I need to make a simple mp3 player

Here are my requirements:
1. Allow user to specify which file to play
2. Play, Stop, Pause, Previous Track, and Next Track Buttons
3. Progress Bar to show track position

I am not sure where to start.  Do I use DirectShow?

Just 1 question.  Is it possible to detect when the buttons on the media player control are clicked?  e.g. do something when play is clicked or when pause is clicked etc etc ?
