"Data is invalid" error while installing device drivers
Hello there,
I cannot install any driver in my system. Whenever I try to install any driver it gives me following error.
Cannot install hardware.
An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The Data is invalid.
This time I'm trying to install Lexmark 4300 series printer on my desktop computer and I know that driver is ok for XP as i installed it on my Laptop. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition 2002 with Service Pack2.
I know that there is thread in this site which tells you to replace your Driver.cab file for sorting this problem. I have replaced the Driver.cab file but its still giving me the same error.
Any help will be appreciated.

Than you for your post. I tried your solution, it installed the printer with windows Lexmark 4300 series driver but when i tried to print something it given me error "Communication not Available". I reboot the system, plugged-out and plugged-in both power and data cable but nothing happened.
Then I tried to update driver and again "USB Composite Device" wizard came on the screen and given me same "Data Invalid Message". My printer is actuall three-in-one printer with scanning, copying and printing facilities. When I tried to scan a test document it given me error "Scan was not successful" and I think because the driver is not working properly.
Is there any other solution in your mind?

I'm still not able to install Lexmark P4350 printer, Whenever I try to install any driver xp gives me same error.
Cannot install hardware.
An error occurred during the installation of the device.

Unplug the printer from the PC.
Go to control panel and open system/device manager. Find the printer and remove the driver/delete.
Connect printer to pc and reboot so windows finds it again.
This time, don't install your lexmark driver but choose a generic driver from the list. XP will have the standard lexxmark drivers.
If the generic driver installs then test the printer and if ok, then reboot and make sure no errors.
If all good, then go back to device manager and change the driver for the printer to your latest lexmark. This should let you once the printer has been working.
