what datatype to use for mandarin/chinese character input?

i need to enter mandarin/chinese characters into my db table. i've set the datatype to varchar and length 1000...however, i cant manage to input chinese/mandarin characters...the error message indicated about my invalid data type and length..so how can i solve this issue? pls help, thanks man.

You need to use nchar or nvarchar for Unicode.
