Problem connecting outside world through SIP Connector ??

Hi everyone

I would like to connect my users to my other branch offices through sametime since they already using sametime for internal IM .
my other branches do not use lotus notes but i read somewhere that external parties "without using sametime" can also communicate with domino sametime communities.

In this connection i decided to configure sametime  gateway and SIP connector.

as per the Red book (" Connecting communities using the lotus IM SIP gateway") i have setup SIP connector server on my DMZ and let it talk to internal sametime gateway on port 1516 and have allowed outside world to talk to SIP connector through 5060 port. ( this all done through firewall rules)
i have configured all 4 imp documents on sametime gateway:

 Community Gateway
Extern Community (don't know who to define to talk to us?)
 Community Connector
 Community Connectivity

don't know what next .... feel i m in mist,
can anyone help me now onwards how can i connect people outside to my company sametime.

i had heard in lotus seminar that people using AOL should be able to talk to sametime communities. a) is it true OR b)what otherways outside people can talk with us ?  c) HOW

many thanks

What version of Sametime are you using?

Here is a good set of features: Sametime features that do not work for external (SIP) users

Here is another that explains how to connect communities, says it only works in 3.0
SIPing with Sametime

Also, the readme describes the steps on how to enable/configure the outside community:

In answer to your AOL question, I think you would have to add their internet address and invite them (as you would in in AOL, or MSN)
I think that you need SAmetime 7.5 to talk to these communities. Previous versions had some functionality , but there were issues with changing standards.

I hope this helps !

are u reffering to the following link with regards to AOL -> 7.5 ?

i don't think 7.5 sametime seems to be released soon

i m using sametime 6.5.1 which i belief should have overcome all the glicthes and don'ts of earlier versions(3 or above)

i think i should close this issue coz i read the following link
Well it says mid 2006, which could mean anywhere from 2-5 months.
