Locking a word document with Java

I am reading in a document doing some data manipulation and saving it back out as a doc file using Java.  I need to be able to put a password on the word document after I have created it.  Is that possible?

not without knowing the internal format of a microsoft word document -- if it is a ms word document you are using.
