You need to install the SQL performance counters on the computer you're using to run perfmon, however, I'm not sure if you can install only the counters on a machine that doesn't have SQL installed.<br />

I need to monitor an SQL server remotely and I cannot find any SQL counters. (Both servers are 2000 sp4). the remote server is not running sql.<br />
