Outlook attachment problems when using send-to e-mail recipient

Does anyone have any idea on how to resolve this problem? Another user in my company reported the same issue today.

 -          start an Office document (Excel, Word, etc.)

-          go to File - Send To - Mail Recipient as Attachment

-          try to send the e-mail with attachment, error occurs

-          delete attachment, re-add it through Outlook, message sends just fine

Again, this only happens if the user initiates the attachment/e-mail from an Office application other than Outlook itself. Running a detect-and-repair, installing SP2, latest updates, etc. does not seem to remedy the issue.

Any ideas?

1 Solution
Greetings, MCPJoe !

1. Disable iTunes running in the background.

2. Check that Outlook is open in the background before going File > Send to > Mail Recipient (as attachement).

3. Set Outlook to automatically send and receive every 1 minute.

4. Create an new Outlook profile.

5. Go to Add & remove programs and "repair" Office 2003. DONE.

6. Reinstall Office 2003.

5. Perform all available Windows Updates.

6. Perform all avaiable Office updates.

Best wishes!

I'll have to check these computers experiencing the problem, but I don't know if they all have itunes, I doubt if they all have it installed.

We've tested this outlook open

send/receive is set

user created a new profile and the issue went away

repair the install did not fix the problem

reinstall was not attempted

all windows and office updates were installed.

I'll post again once I find out about itunes.

MCPJoe, you wrote

So is the problem fixed?  We have not heard from you in awhile. Did any comment help you solve your problem? Do you have any more question? If an Expert helped you, please accept his/her answer above with an excellent or good grade.

Thanks, war1

technically yes, however the issue still exists.  I don't consider re-creating profiles, or switching cached exchande mode on as a solution, its just more of a workaround.  But thanks!
