Exchange 2003 with MessageOne ActiveMailbox

We are in the process of implementing our DR-BC plan.  One of our projects include implementing MessageOne's ActiveMailbox VaultBox that will provide Email Continuity for a DR scenerio.  One of MO's hardware requirement is to have a dedicated server that will have adequate storage for 7-times the estimated daily mail volume.

How would you "estimate the daily mail volume" within Exchange 2003?

thanks to all.

Without a third party application, probably perfmon will do the job. Once you have the list of monitors that you want, reset the Exchange services which will reset the counters. Then leave it to run for 24 hours and see what you are getting.

    MessageOne provided the following:

A rough ballpark number would be Total Number of Tracking Logs generated per mailbox server over 7 days  X 5 (MB) divided by 7 = daily message transfer volume. We’ll likely be less than that due to compression and single instancing, but it’s a relatively reasonable high water mark.

But I'm not sure how to accomplish this.  Any suggestions?

Tracking logs will be no good.
Message tracking logs only store the header information, nothing else.

They could be referring to Transaction logs. You would need to record the size of the transaction logs just before the backup runs as Exchange aware backups flush the tracking logs.
