Could describe iin more detail what you mean by a "digital display"?

I'm guessing updating a Label from a Timer event is not what you're after?....

    Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
        Label1.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString("h:mm:ss tt")
    End Sub
