Dell Server Beeps and Resets System Time

Posted on 2006-03-27

Everytime I reboot our Dell server, the server beeps and resets the system time.  Any idea why this is happening?  Everything has been working on this server for the last couple years ... is this a battery problem?  What is going on?  Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

change the system bettery. I think you are using old bettery the bettery which is used for data and time.
and ip beep then check the RAM your problem should be resolved.

We changed the system battery about a year ago ... isn't the battery supposed to last longer than a year?

I am assuming you are referring to the little silver battery inside the server.

What do you mean by "ip beep" and how can I check the RAM?  What am I looking for?

    Reseat the ram.

Also look into some software that test hardware of your system. We use microscope 2000.
If you system is under warranty give dell a call.

sorry this is not ip this is if

If your system beep means 99% due to your RAM problem. RAM is your primary memory and when you boot your system then the OS load from HDD to RAM if RAM is not working properly then system beeping.

So please remove RAM and check and I also suggest you please check bettery..
