Upgrade from 6.1 to 7

I will be upgrading from 6.1 to 7 soon and wanted to get some feedback or direction before I move forward.

1. Can I install CF7 and then just uninstall 6? Would that migrate all the settings?
2. Would both be running at the same time?
3. Any code incompatibility? Depreciated tags?
4. Let's say I install the 30 day trial, I can just slap in the serial before the trial is up right? (Cheap boss)

Anything else I should be aware of?

Ohh, since your boss is tight, be aware that I think 8 will be released this year, so either get 7 with a subscription or get your boss to commit to continual upgrades.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like the transition would be a smooth one. I heard about 8, but wasnt' sure when it would be released. Any major differences between 7 and 8?

I'm just guessing, but I think we will see something this year. 7 came out quite quickly after beta.

There is no info on it yet, it's called scorpio so you do a google on Coldfusion Scorpio and see people talking about it.

You can buy CF with a 2 year subscription which will allow you to migrate.

It really should provide some serious OO enhancements, but who knows what it will do, lots of flash / flex stuff i'm sure.

Yeah I just googled it and it talked a little about it, nothing concrete though. So I might just see about going to 7 now and then make the move to 8 later in the future.
