Navicat alternative

I have a very large database that I have to pull down from a db server - for some reason MySQL administrator won't let me connect.  My navicat trial has expired......

How can I grab this large database? phpmyadmin only allows for 2mb or so, what are my alternatives?  I have both a Mac and a Windows machine.  IS there an open source solution out there that allows me to pull down this database and restore it later?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

True, but I'm looking for a graphical client that allows for SQL backups / restorations with no size limits.
