Listen on port and grab data

Hello,

We have got an application here that send packets on the network over tcp/ip on port 12345.

How can i read these packets?
I heard network socket is an option, but what is that? Google does not give me an real answer.

The manufacturer cant help me, why? reason is to long to explain here.

Can anyone help me out here?

Hi,

You can use a packet sniffer. There are free ones like ethereal or IP sniffer, and commercial ones, like etherpeek (great one). All of them use advanced port filtering, so that you'll only capture packets sent on port TCP 12345.
