1) what is LVM (Logical volume manager) Veritas
2) What does it do
3) is Veritas used for True64 and AIX?? (I know it works for SUN solaris, HP-UX and Linux)

I meant to add also that their sales folks are real good a convincing management that their tools are good for the enterprise, but most admins that I know believe that it is a waste of money unless you are dealing with tens of thousnads of users and clustered machines.

The sun tools do a;
man metastat

and that will give you an explanation of the sun tool and list other commands to look at in the man pages.
