Hello on our servers i am currently using the stardart windows backup utility.  I have heard from different sources that this is not a good program to use and there are better 3rd party alternatives.  A couple people have recomended the Symantic backup utility.  Is there any reason to really use a different backup utility if the microsoft one has all the features i need?  I understand Symantic may have more features but the microsoft one does everything i need?  Is there any hidden risk of corruption or anything else dangerous i should be concerned with when using the windows backup?  Any input is appriciated.

No, there is no reason to use third party backup software.

Windows Backup is good enough for most cases....Third party backup software will have advanced features such as backup job reporting...the ability to manage many backup systems from a central console, etc.  However, Windows backup does a find job of backing up and restoring data.  There is no reason to purchase a new one if your backups are completing propertly now.
