Dell 9150 Intel Storage Matrix Manager - messages in event log after blue screen of death

Hello.

My event viewer has started to throw some worrying messages...

I have a Dell 9150 D with twin 160gig drives, controlled by the intel matrix storage manager.  The OS is XP home and the drives are set up, by Dell, as RAID 0 Stripe.

The first message is RAID 0 Volume is in a nonredundant state, failed disk state.

Then a day later i get the blue screen of death but didnt note what it said - something to do with Inpage error or something like that, but instead of noting what it said I rebooted and looked to the event log and saw this:-

The COM+ Event System raised an unexpected access violation at address 0x7773D646, attempting to access address 0x7773D646.  It then suggests I contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

es!+0x2d646
ntdll!RtlConvertULongToLargeInteger+0x46
ntdll!KiUserExceptionDispatcher+0xe

The above repeats itself several times down the log, what looks like 50 or so times then..

es!+0xfc74
es!+0x10080
es!+0x270c3
es!+0x2713b
ole32!FreePropVariantArray+0x7bc
es!+0xdd50
es!+0x11d0c
es!+0x11d96
ole32!FreePropVariantArray+0x6f9
ole32!FreePropVariantArray+0x5dc
es!+0x28c59
es!+0x28f3c
es!+0x29080
kernel32!GetModuleFilenameA+0x1b4

Could somebody explain to me what is going on.....

Many thanks

from the first error i would say you have a hdd starting to fail, run diagnostics on the hdds. To run the diagnostics boot to the drivers and utilities cd that was shipped with the system.

Hi

Thanks for your response, much appreciated.  I have deduced that the problem is not hardware related but to do with the unstable environment raid 0 configurations offer.  I decided to flatten the pc and redo it as non-raid - i.e. sata with a root c: drive for the operating system and the secondary drive as a data/backup drive.

All is well except for one thing and thats to do with 2 microsoft security updates which keeps throwing back failures.

These are for windows media player plugin - KB911564 & an update for windows xp - kb910437.  These keep throwing back fail no matter what I throw at it.

The event viewer says:-

Installation failure:- windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070003 & this message is the same for the windows media player plugin.  I have no idea what the media player plugin applies - this error was immediate so its not like I have added any plugins to generate such a fault...

Any thoughts or contributions would be gladly appreciated.

Rgs
