window.onscroll event not captured with firefox 1.07 butt works fine in IE

I'm twiddling around with javascript code and have the following:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
window.onscroll = doOnScroll;
function doOnScroll() {
   alert("Scroll");
}
</script>

This code works fine in ie, but doesn't work at all in firefox. Is there a simple and clean workaround for this? This solution must be cross browser compatible... at least for ie and firefox.

Here's a website I found with the example...

Thanks in advance
