Internal Card Reader, states Disk is not formatted

I have just tried to install, internal 6 in 1 card reader, device is recognised & configured OK, when card is inserted, egg timer appears but no autorun. if I look at my computer shows the device, if I double click it states the disk in the drive is not formatted.
If I go to disk management, it says I have a 32mb Disk which is coorect but displays no format info, if i take the card out it correctly recognises there is no disk.

If i take card to another machine, it is OK. I have even put a spare hdd in the PC done a blank load and tested the reader which then works fine. It must be a software issue.

Any idea's ?

Download the latest version of HijackThis

run it and save the log. Paste the log to the following website

Follow the following exactly:

At the bottom of the page you'll see a "ANALYZE" button. Click it and you will have an analysis of your log. Now a new button, "SAVE ANALYSIS" will show up at the bottom. Your analyzed log will be saved to a page on that homepage, of which you can post the URL here. I should then be able to see if there is any software causing problems.

url for logfile is

I have since found out that it does the same with floppy disks, usb pen drives, but not ide hard disks (the only way I could get the files transfered !)

Is Normann a firewall or something? If a firewall, leave it, if not I'd disable that to check if things will then work.

Also, you seem to have a lexmark printer installed. Printers often include a card reader, and these might have reserved the the drive letters for themselves and could be causing your problem. You could try uninstalling the lexmark software and then check if the problem prevails.

No different, Norman by the way is Anti Virus.
I think it must a system file somewhere, as I said if I put a blank hdd in it, do a blank XP SP2 load it works fine.

That's the reason I asked for hijackthis, it allows you to disable a lot that isn't necessary, but of course you can't see all. What you can try now is to use msconfig and disable as many services and startup items as possible, then check if it works (Of course you still need those drivers needed for the device). Once it works there you can enable things one by one until it doesn't work anymore.
