tried connecting cognos transformer to SQL server, but SLQ server was not an option - even though MS access was.  so created a cube thru analysis services.

how do i link cognos powerplay to the cube.  from what i can understand from powerplay, it needs an .mdc cube, but i can't seem to find an *.mdc file anywhere on my PC

any help would be appreciated

actually, the mdc file is a self generating cube file from transformer. In order to produce the mdc powercube file, you'll need to create an mdl file (cube model) by using Powerplay Transformer.

the problem i had was processing 3 million records in access  - so i used sql server and analysis services to create a cube

powerplay is the olap reporting layer so i used the instructions in the above website to link to the analysis services cube
