Workgroup Internet Sharing : Prevented by having a Static IP ?

there is  a workgroup of 3 pcs.

all have a static IP address

now I read that to have internet connection sharing the IP address must be  
set to automatic.

what do I do now ?

The XP solution is for both XP Pro and Home

Instead of using ICS try setting up a proxy server Freeproxy from http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/ is my favourite.

Simple, straight forward and free.

first of all thank you for rairdonm for being first at the scene with
a solution..as good as it was ...i tried to implement it with varying results...

snerkel - it was simple, straight foward, convenient and did not impact
heavily on the network settings  - thanks alot.
