DELETING TEMP FILES



     

Best way to delete Temp files form windows.   Sometime when you go in and delete files from temp folder   You " cannot delete source files message"    I end all program in the background and still get cannot delete source file   file in use message.  

   What is best way to delete temp files and to avoid this message?

Hi openjohn,

a lot of the time you cant delete temp files as they are in use - even a script or batch file wont get past this error

best way is to jump into safe mode and delete them that way

You can also try this:

While Windows is booting (after the change to your standard screen resolution) hold down the shift-key. This will bypass all Autorun-Features (except services).

Try to delete then.
The advantage over Safe-Mode is that none of your settings will be messed up and you can use your PC right after without reboot.

Often I will just sort the temp files by data and not delete the ones with todays date, usually on a dozen or so.  I select all in the folder, deselect todays and the rest delete without issue.
