DAO Doesn't work after recompile with VS 2005

Using DAO functionality (I know I need to use ADO, but don't have the time right now)
If I compile the project in VS 6, it works fine
Compile in VS 8, I get this error -2147221164 on a Windows 98 machine.
I installed DAO 3.5 on the machine, but it didn't fix the problem.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks for the input.  I intend to try Lakshman's idea next time I have access to this computer.
It does work OK on Win2K machines.
