i have just successfully installed a second exchange 2003, the purpose is to move all mailboxes from the old exchange 2003 machine to the new one. after the installation i just checked if everything is smoot so that i could plan out the moving of mailboxes.

apperantly, there is no problem in moving mailboxes but during a test, client using outlook express cannot access there mailbox after it gets moved to the new server. the message is

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.server.com', Server: 'mail.server.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

now i checked in the new server under protocol and pop3 is not running and when i try to start it, it terminates the process without any particular remark. any help would be appericated. i think maybe untill i completely remove the first exchange server 2003 this one will not start.. maybe..

Hi lomaree,

POP3 service will be disabled in exchange 2003, by default. Go to Administrative tools-services and change the Startup Type for the POP3 Service.

Hope this helps you
