Outlook 2003 Not Responding

I have a user that is using a Cingular Edge Card for internet connection.  He can send and receive Email fine.  However, when he is connected to the edge card and tries to open an attachment (small or large), Outlook 2003 goes to not responding.  While Outlook 2003 is doing this, if he disconnects from the Edge card the attachment opens correctly.  I am confused on what might be causing this since other users of Edge cards in the office are having no issues.  The Email accounts are POP3.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Greetings, dhathsato !

1. Right click on the attachment and safe it as a file in a location.  Then open from that location.

2. Check if antivirus email check is slowing receiving.  Disable it.

3. In the account settings, Advanced settings, change the server timeout time from 1 min to 5 min

4. Check if an addin is interfering. Go to Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Addin Manager or COMM/Addins and disable the addins.

5. Since this is the only user having the problem, create a new Outlook profile.

Best wishes!

I tried all the steps above and still the problem persists.  I have not tried to uninstall and reinstall, hoping that is a last resort if their are not anymore suggestions.  Thanks,
dhathsato, any update?  Did reinstalling Outlook fix the problem for you?
