hi there,
i need to write a very basic program or find an open source program to receive input from a serial port. it doesnt have to be in c in fact i would prefer to write a unix bash script but i know that it can be done in c.

i have an infra red receiver (im building one) that uses the serial port, i need to translate the information coming down the line and then send it to a server. i can do that bit but actually opening the socket and receiving i cant.

can anyone help?
