Veritas Error: Snapshot provider error (0xE0008534)
I am recieving the following errors using Veritas/Symantec Backup Exec 10d on a Windows 2003 Server machine.
This is for a complete disk backup across 5 servers.
Each server has the correct agents installed.

Backup- SERVER4ADBO: Offhost backup initialization failure on: "C:".
Snapshot provider error (0xE0008534): Backup Exec could not find a Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) software or hardware provider on the media server. To use offhost backup, a VSS provider must be installed on both the media server and on the remote computer.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

I disabled the offhost backup options in veritas to fix this.

it seems as if the advenced open file option is set to VSS and the VSS is not installed or not running.
If you change the Advanced open file option to something else like "veritas snapshot provider" and see what happends.
