Scrolling picture code help

I am working on disecting and using some scroll code that moves a clip with the press of next, or previous.  I have the pictures loading fine and understand that, but not sure why the scrolling is not working.  I have the page up at www.snowarab.com/testing/test.html .  I have the fla file there too.    Code:

 onClipEvent (load) {
      accel =0.1;
      rate = 0.1;
      trace(_x)
      _root.xkoord=55;
}

onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
            x=x*accel+(_root.xkoord-_x) * rate;
            _x+=x;
            if(Math.abs(_root.xkoord-_x)<1) { _x=_root.xkoord; }

}
 then next button:

on(release) {
      if(_root.xkoord<20) {
      _root.xkoord+=155;
      }
}

Any help with explanation and why this is not working would be a big help.

Thank you....

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Because you initialize _root.xkoord with value = 55, and then check _root.xkoord < 20, this is not going to work, unless I overlook something.

Any ideas to accomplish this principle would be greatly appreciated.
