Outlook and Internet explorer broken. Outlook: "Text processing command not available" IE: shows only blank white screen. No HTML

System:  Server 2003 - Terminal Server with 33 users.

About a week ago, I discovered that my Typelib folder in HKCR was reset to everyone permissions.
This caused my VB apps, Excel, Access, etc. to not work correctly.

After the permissions reset to the default (on the HKCR/Typelib), all appeared well.
Now, Outlook starts with "Text processing command not available" when viewing messages.
IE will not display an html page.  It's just blank.
It looks like it is trying, just no display.

AARGH.  Microsoft.

I am on hold with Microsoft (you guys are better) because this is my largest client with a down server.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi TSguru,

TSguruAuthor Commented:
Well,  no reinstall, but.....

Contacted Microsoft.
After a short evel of the system, I was asked if I had the recent service patch #912945 installed.  I did.
He suggested removing that patch through Add/Remove Programs, rebooting and re-registering the mshtml.dll file (regsvr32 mshtml.dll).

Thank you Microsoft for the 20+ hours and shorter lifespan trying to fix this.
I won't make anymore comments about Microsoft.  This is a "family" site!!

Please keep this article alive as I'm sire there will be other servers, terminal servers specifically that this will effect.

Thank You!

Oh, I was ready for the reinstall.  Coffee, etc...  I will be sleeping tonight and will have a happy customer!
