Option 1 recover the hole hdd everything will be lost
Option 2 Recovery for experience user
Option 3 end the installation

i want to use Option 2 Recovery for experience user but it is difficult to understand anything it is some kind Recovery Utilty made for toshiba pc`s by symantec the reason i want to use this option is becauseit is the only way if i want to make a partition for data and that is what i want.

Hi beocom2500,

what are you asking - i had the same model toshy and had the disks through it numerous times, i think you will find one disk is 2000 and one is xp

Cheers!

ASKER

They are both XP installation cd when the installation cd no 1 is up one 75% it ask for cd no 2 but this is for Option 1 recover the hole hdd everything will be lost. Great i have never use norton ghost
so i don`t really need some expert to create an extra partition? so please guide?
so you selected the second option and its asking for the second disk? give it to it!
It ask for the second cd with option 1 i don`t understand anything about option 2 so please guide from start to end?
i dont have the toshiba anymore... so i cant test it as such

have a read of the readme file on the cd or the manual that came with the toshy
The Manual only for hardware issues no OS XP or preinstal  software guide?
what model toshiba? satellite pro? if you give me the exact model ill find the manual for you
The one below have 1.1GHz MY HAVE 1.5GHz   but that is the only difference :

Toshiba Notebook
Satellite 1800-712 Cel 1.1GHz/ 256MB/ 20GB/ DVD-CDRW/ LAN/ XP HE

option 2 allows you to select certain packages that you want installed instead of the factory default settings which is option 1
eg. additional software features that came with the laptop to start with on the base image

both ways you will loose all your data
But option 2 will give me an option split the hdd into 2 partition an when instal xp on the c partition and use d for data right? if not i think toshiba is a piece gar!!ge but if i so use option 2 another time i will lose everything again i am glad this is not my pc but my mothers.
neither of the options will allow you to split partitions   this is a recovery set not a windows install   it will come out as it was originally imaged   if with one partition then you will get one partition if with two then you will get two

you need to just run through it and then use something like partition magic to partition the drive how you want it
I have no attention to speed 100.00 usd on Norton PartitionMagic  8.0 so i guess i am lost.
