BCK and BAK file

What is the difference between a .BCK file and .BAK file?

Im using MSDE, and our consultant wrote a daily backup script which generates a .BCK file instead of a .BAK file.

Will this make a difference at the time of a restore?

there is no importance in the name or extension in the backup files.

agree with angelIII

assuming that the SQL server BACKUP command is used the choice of filetype name is purely a matter of choice...
