another suggestion, you could download wsus to update all your clients automatically...

it's not hard to set up, it works fine and it updates more than just the OS... you mostly will have to sit, approve the updates you need and watch the clients get updated...

visit this address for more info:

www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/updateservices/default.mspx
Follow kamichie's advice considering what exactly you're trying to do. WSUS is a good package, but it does not address machines NOT connected to a network.

The versions for IT professionals include the WHOLE package, versus just enough to access MS to download the whole update (end user version works that way).
indeed, my bad...

we are going to implement sus, but right now I have to get the windows server patches on there before that is ready. How Do I know what pateches I need, I think I just nee dto apply the critical patches. The server does not have access to teh internet
it is a windows 2000 server
Well, you have to review for yourself. Ideally, you'd have a test environment where all you do is test patches and other programs for any incompatibilities.

Use the link that kamichie gave you.... then do an advanced search updates & patches with Windows 2000 as the technology. Putting the word 'critical' in your search won't help you because it even excludes SP4.

Do you have a machine with similar configuration that you can connect to the net?
