SQL Server error 10061

Hello guys !!

I have a "server" that has a reporting tool called Artus and connect to a SQL Server 2000.
It has been working perfectly for more than 10 months until Monday.
Since then I'm receiving the following error:

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error:10061
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]connectionOpen(Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLSTate: '08001'
SQL Server Error:17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

What can I do?

1) check if the sql server is indeed started on the server
2) check which service pack you have on the windows server installed (which version of windows?), and which service pack your sql server has (should be at least SP3)

yes it's started the rest of my users, myself and other servers are connected to it.

The workstation I'm willing to reconnect to the server is XP PRO SP2

The server I'm willing to reconnnect is NT 4.0


AGAIN; everything was working perfectly. I think ity has something to do with daylight savings because in Mexico we changed on Sunday

Well I finally solved this out.
For some reason the server was blocking the port and the session, I stopped the service, started it again and exactly when the service starts I started the session and everything worked out.
