IMAP client connection problem

I have a SBS Standard 2003 Server running exchange 2003. I have configured IMAP on the server for use with t-mobile MDA compact phones so users can access their emails while out visiting clients. some users are able to connect through to the server and collect mails using IMAP and some can't. I have searched through this site and so far found the only solution is to delete the user and recreate, I have quite a few users and this would be last resort. If i create a new user then the IMAP works fine, the users that are working currently are recently added users after i activated the IMAP service. This is very urgent!!!
