I have exchange 2k3 running on server 2k3, recently brough it up as new member of admin group. Today noticed in Application Log that MSExchangeMTA runs constantly sending a message and receiving a message like every other second or so. First I have following:

Have you got logging turned up? Those messages are harmless, but are usually only seen when diagnostic logging is turned up.

For rather obvious reasons you only turn up the diagnostics logging when you are looking to diagnose a problem, otherwise all you get is noise.
