DR 3060 TWAIN error code -4523
The Hardware:
Dell optiplex GX270
Adaptect 2906 SCSI Adapter
Canon DR-3060 High Capacity Scanner
The Problem:
When scanning in adobe or our proprietary scanning software the scanner pulls one page and throws an exception with the error code: -4523. Google didn't know what this error code means, and I am hoping one of our fine experts does.
On a related note, I have another scanner of the same type that is throwing exceptions if you set the paper size to auto-detect. I have already reinstalled the drivers for the scanner, the scsi card, and Adobe to no avail.
Any Ideas?

It depends =).
Some people scan with auto detect (which also bombs whatever program they are scanning with) and others scan strictly legal or letter. The resolution setting are always 300dpi (high speed). What's funny is there is one little box that could that scans perfectly on all settings. Im probably going to cross section that little guy with the rest of them that are screwing up.
Event viewer, good call! I will check it out. Thanks much for your reply!

I regret to inform you that the event viewer on two of the different machines having the above problem turned up nothing. It doesn't look like it's registering the errors. Any other ideas? Good shot though.
Have you tried using the latest TWAIN drivers? Get them here > http://software.canon-europe.com/software/isis__twain_drivers_version_17s4863.asp?model=
According to Canon, this scanner will work fine with USB 2.0 but not with add-in cards. The error seems to be generated by Acrobat. I am searching for thr error code ;o)

Capture perfect? Is that a canon program?
Im slightly confused because of the way these stupid scanners work. I am guessing that capture perfect is installed along side the scan panel.
Hrm.
Well, I will try all of these suggestions at work today and I will come back and award points as soon as the problem is fixed. I believe that you have provided me with enough information to fix the issue, and you answered my original question =).
Thanks so much for your paitience!

capture perfect and the new drivers fixed the problem. On one specific scanner I was having a different physical problem that was throwing me off of the software problem. After switching the broken scanner out with a new one it works perfectly.
After applying the capture perfect upgrade and installing the newest version of scan panel, the other scanners now work perfectly.
thanks so much!
