Resetting Grandstream Budgetone 102 VOIP phone to factory default

I'd like to start over with this phone configuration by resetting to its factory default.  I've downloaded http://www.grandstream.com/user_manuals/budgetone100.pdf
but the manual says I need to type in the MAC address before powering down on a reset.  The phone's keypad allows me to type in numbers, but not letters.  How do I type in letters?

I've locked myself out of the web interface so I can't see much of anything there either - if there were a config file I could upload and test I'd do that, but I'm not sure how.

as the manual states:

A enter 22
B enter 222
C enter 2222
D enter 33
E enter 333
F enter 3333

Sorry I forgot the example:

if the MAC address is 000b8200e395, it should be encoded as
“0002228200333395”.

I should say something about my apparent inability to read a user manual.  I'm on a linux network and open pdf files with xpdf, which is fine except that in most cases the pdf files in question are not searchable, you can't print selected pages, and some pdf documents can only be printed directly off the print server.  In a 51-page manual, it can be easy to miss stuff, as I've just found out :)

To perform a factory reset

Enter 000 000 000 000 then press the "MENU" button again
Powercycle the budge tone without being to the network thru the ethernet cable
Press the menu and then the upward arrow key, you will see the reset option on the  LCD.

Enter the Mac addrees or product id of the phone

Thanks for going beyond the call webypunto :)  I've already awarded the points, but thank you for your comments.  This makes it easier to remember what to do - the logic is more apparent.
