I removed a computer from a domain but I do not know the password of the local account. How do I connect to the domain to create another local account or just be able to login to it the way it is.

Hi ncagroup,
It happened to me before, and I resolve it using either Hirens CD and then reset the built-in Administrator local account, and then login using ERD commander 2005, It's a great tool for such case, I've tried to find the link for you to download it, but unfortunately I didn't find it, except through the archive the web :

http://web.archive.org/web/20050329093306/www.winternals.com/products/repairandrecovery/erdcommander2002.asp?pid=erd

It will boots your system even if it's dead directly from CD into a Windows-like environment, and then from there you can see what is the users you have in the system if you find the admin then you are lucky, otherwise, you can see the existing users "or create admin user" and then reset the password, and Walla your problem resolved.

Good luck!

Naser

I have seen this program beforte and it is very good. I need a fix that will not cost $149. I didn't even think about the password before I did this or I would have created the account.....lol..The sad thing is I do no recall setting the passwprd on the machine. So I figured the Administrator wo/ pw would work.....silly me for thinking that

Forget spending money on it.  That's a bootable CD-ISO that will recover local admin passwords.

It's works well... text based, but pretty easy to use. Most of the options you need are already selected by default.
