The D915 boards use the Intel High Def Audio subsystem using the Realtek ALC860 audio codec.

To make the most of it make sure you have the latest BIOS (http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/genbios.htm)  and audio drivers

You can download the latest audio drivers from here:
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/software/ias/

But unless you have the 7.1 version (Intel 915PBL) you can only get a free trial version of Intel Audio Studio which is meant to get the best out of the card.  The full version is around $20

The Realtek Audio Controller Ver 5.10.0.5229  dated 3/22/2006
Then if you want IAS to go with it you'll need to cough up the 20 bucks

It should be installed.  The normal route to it would be Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices
