Selecting a domain name in a new forest

I'm confused about domain names. For example, say my company's website is "" and is hosted offsite. Currently we have a workgroup and I want to change to a domain. I will run dcpromo on the 2003 server and select "create a new domain in a new forest". When asked for the domain name should I enter I'm not sure how the domain name relates to the website. Also what if the website was hosted on a server on site? Does it make any difference? I think I'm a bit confused - can someone straighten me out please?

It's recommended you name things with a .local extension.  You COULD do .org or .com, but then you could have problems with properly resolving names on the network.

Windows can easily handle managing web sites and email domains for domains NOT named after the Windows domain.
