Backup tapes

Do they need to be formatted or is it just a matter of buying the tape, placing it in and it runs the job.
This is for the tape drive: works ultirum 460, which is HP and uses 400GB HP back up tapes.
Thanks for the clarification in advance.

    Assisted Solution

    Hi GanaSonaDa,

No Ultrium tapes do not need formatting.  If you insert the tape and either manually start a backup job or schedule one to run it will.
