I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello blueglacier,
ASP needs a server. Easiest is to use IIS.

Cassini is a pretty good solution as it is free and even comes with source code. Note that to use it as a web server that processes requests from outside the local machine, you'd need to tweak it to comment out a few lines.

Check out the following article that describes it in more detail, as well as offers some customization tips:

You could also try running ASP.NET on Apache. Apache is a popular open source web server that's often used on Unix/Linux web servers, but it comes for Windows as well.

This article/blog post describes how to configure Apache with ASP.NET.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer enwhysee. I was waiting for some other suggestions, but yours will do.

I readed the articles and I found out that there are some other customizations of the Casini web server that may work better. They are basically enhancemnets on the Casini. The most important ones are the abilitiy to run multiple applications and the fact that Casini can be installed as a windows service.
