Netgear SC101 firmware upgrade problem
I have installed an SC101 netgear NAS drive with two 250gig drives.
I could not update the firmware despite going through all the resolutions supplied by Netgear support. In the end they said unit was faulty and asked me to send it back for a replacement under warranty.
i have done so and the new unit is now installed. However again I cannot update the firmware.
Any ideas else this will have to go back again but this time for a refund.

Waiting to see if the unit corrupts anymore data and if so why. We lost 800 documents which we managed to recover all but 20. the NAS gear is used to store our archive from our case management system as the main file server is low on space. Once we move office we will introduce a new 2003 server but for now we need the room.
If I have a corruption problem then i need to identify why. At the moment we have the archive going to a thin client server with loads of space.

Downloaded the firmware first prior to switching off the proxy settings and then installed by browsing from the Storage Central Management Utility.
This worked and all data is still intact on the old hard drives in the new hardware.
Turned on proxy again.
Not the best solution and Netgear should sort this out. The nexy peoblem is to see if any new data gets lost on this storage device. Therefore I am running a series of scheduled batch files to see if any of the data written/rewritten/modified
The unit now runs cooler with firmware as the disks now spin down when not in use.
