Connecting to another OSX machine

In the Finder-->Go-->Network Select a node to connect to Password required to connect but no password works is there a default password for this action? and or how can we change the password and where is it kept?

    See if this helps:

    You set privileges for the shared folder by highlighting it and typing Command-i (for GetInfo). You set up users and passwords in the User Accounts Preferences panel.

    If you want to share more than just the public folder, you need the third party freeware utility Sharepoints:

    If you want the shared folders to automount at startup, use Sharepoints Automounter as well:
